Visualizing the roof pitch

Before we could begin working on the ridge poles we needed to firmly establish the angle or pitch of the roof. Because the roof rafters would be resting on the logs they needed to be of the right slope to have everything set nice and flat.

We had fun with this because we kept changing the angles until things looked 'right' with the building site. We did have our paper design but the literal translation of the design to real life just wasn't quite what we wanted. By using 1 x 2's and a few clamps we were able to see exactly what the profile of the sauna would be. I have a digital 2' level and we were able to capture the angle exaclty. I think it was 30 degrees.
