Flat and Level

Here are the rim joists set flat and level. I used 4x6 PT posts set on gal. post brackets. The length of each post is different as the ground slopes in two directions.

Years ago I bought an optical transit at a yard sale. Everything in the survey business was going laser and folks were just about giving the optical tools away. I've used it on at least a dozen jobs and by golly, it does the trick.

You can see the garden hose coming from a frost proof hose bib just to the right of the sauna. We will use this to provide water for the planned shower inside the sauna.

The valve itself is actually 48" below the surface of the ground. So the handle on top just turns it on and off. Any water left in the riser pipe drains away. Since we don't plan on heating the sauna during the winter we needed a way to have water when needed but to drain the system when not in use. This fits the bill perfectly.
