The floor is a simple 10' x 12' box. Extra framing is located where the wood stove and its concrete base will be. The frame really isn't 10' x 12' because you have to consider the overhang of the logs for a drip edge and so that you can install a skirt around the base. The PT posts will be covered with the skirting. I blocked everything out, so the plywood deck had purchase on all edges. I didn't want any bounce in the floor or any place where water might hide if it got in there. I tripled up the long rim joists and bolted them together. This gave me a 4 1/2" x 11 1/2 beam to support the building. Originally I wanted to use a single beam cut from a tree on the property, but because I could only work on weekends etc., we opted for dimensional lumber. If I had time I would much rather have used as much local lumber as possible. Our Alaska Saw Mill is a wonderful tool and would have made short work of making the beam.
